GUAM

I learned to dive on the beautiful island of Guam.  The rich history of the island is incredible.  There are so many wrecks to dive, and they are "real" wrecks.  Not just boats cleaned up to become artificial reefs.  The tokai maru and the cormoran are ships from WWI and WWII.  There is a Japonese Seaplane, a Japanese Zero, and a Japanese Destroyer, just to name a few of the wrecks you can dive there.  I had the opportunity to dive with the Micronesian Diver's Association, and they are still close to my heart!

TURKEY

I have been able to visit Turkey twice.  I dived in a little seaside town called Kusadasi.  I wandered through the harbor and found a PADI flag waving off of a nice wooden boat.  I did one dive that first summer, it was ok, on a dying reef; but I saw some ancient pottery shards from trading ships and a nice thermal crack with hot water coming out. . . The second trip to Turkey I was there for four weeks, and was able to dive M-F for four weeks.  It was GREAT.  I was able to do dives on my own, w/o a divemaster; we saw schools of barricuda, moray eels, nudibranchs, etc.  I was even able to do a cave dive there.

MEXICO

Mexico has a special place in my heart.  I've travelled by car to Ensenada, La Bufadora, Puerto Penasco, and Bahia de Los Angeles.  I've also been to
Cabo San Lucas.  La Bufadora has some cold, clear water; every time I've been there the viz has been at least 40 to 50 ft.  Bird Rock and Los Arbolitos are two of my favorite dive spots there.  Puerto Penasco I have only been shore diving.  I found a nice camp ground on the way out to the point, and th shore diving from it is phenominal.  Bahia de Los Angeles is my favorite diving in Baja.  The cold water upwellings, and the warm surface temperatures make the Sea of Cortez in this rregion it's own secluded environment.  Cabo San Lucas I wasn't too impressed with.  I didn't see a lot of coral growth at all, but the sealife was nice.

BONAIRE

Bonaire was one of the most incredible dive vacations I've had.  I was able to go with a group of 10 divers, and we had an amazing time at the Plaza Resort.  The diving with Bon Bini Divers was a great experience.  We were able to have a boat all to ourselves all week long.  We rented a "dive" truck for the week, which was included in the cost, and we dived to our heart content.  I did 26 dives in 6 days.  The most amazing dives.  We saw seahorses, frogfish, turtles, more types of eels than I could have imagined, and the tarpons.  I've never fed a tarpon by using my light before!  They're so used to divers that they use their dive lights at night to feed on smaller fish.
